At Ridgeline Construction Group, our reputation is built on more than just high-end custom homes – it’s built on the strength, integrity, and leadership of our people. This month, we’re proud to spotlight Site Superintendent Matt Capelle, a dedicated member of the Ridgeline team whose approach to craftsmanship and client relationships has made a lasting impact over the past eight years.
We sat down with Matt to learn more about his background, his philosophy on leadership, and what drives his passion for building.
From Wildlife to Residential Construction
Matt’s career didn’t start on a job site – it began in the outdoors. Before entering the construction world, he worked as a wildlife biologist and land manager. Though the industries may seem worlds apart, Matt credits that experience with shaping his approach to planning, problem-solving, and working under pressure.
“When I made the switch into building, I realized I loved being hands-on and seeing tangible results from my work,” he said.
After meeting Ridgeline’s founders, Ray Foral and Terry Lawler, Matt knew he’d found the right fit. “I respected what they stood for, and the level of quality Ridgeline expects,” he said. “Building high-end homes that truly matter to clients is a challenge I enjoy, and Ridgeline gave me the opportunity to do that at a high level.”
A Hands-On Leader With Integrity
As a Site Superintendent, Matt leads by example. He stays closely involved in every phase of construction, ensuring things are done right the first time and that communication remains clear across teams.
“Integrity is a big one for me,” he said. “Doing things the right way, being honest with clients, and standing behind the quality of our work matters a lot.”
His leadership style is grounded in accountability, organization, and trust. Whether he’s working with homeowners, subcontractors, or Ridgeline teammates, Matt prioritizes strong relationships and attention to detail.
Building Stronger Relationships – and Better Homes
For Matt, it’s the people who make the work meaningful. Over the years, he’s built lasting relationships with clients and subcontractors alike, and he takes that responsibility seriously.
“A lot of homeowners put a huge amount of trust in us to build their dream home, and I take that seriously,” he said. “Seeing their satisfaction when everything comes together is incredibly rewarding.”
That same trust extends to Ridgeline’s trade partners. “When everyone on site respects each other and works as a team, the projects run smoother, and the end result is better for everyone.”
Growing With Ridgeline
Since joining the company eight years ago, Matt has seen Ridgeline expand significantly. Projects have grown in scale and complexity, and processes have become more streamlined without sacrificing the personalized, relationship-first approach Ridgeline is known for.
“What I really appreciate is that even with all the growth, the culture hasn’t changed,” he said. “Ridgeline has stayed focused on quality, relationships, and taking care of its people. That’s a big reason I’ve stayed here for so long.”
A Look Ahead
Matt’s goals for the future are rooted in continuous improvement. He’s focused on refining processes, boosting efficiency, and continuing to raise the bar on quality with every new project.
“There’s always room to get better,” he said. “I enjoy finding ways to streamline what works while still keeping Ridgeline’s standards high.”
Most of all, he hopes to continue being someone his clients and coworkers can count on – someone who leads with integrity and helps shape the company’s future growth.
A Culture That Sticks
“My favorite part of working at Ridgeline is the people and the autonomy,” he said. “I love being trusted to do my job and solve problems on my own without being micromanaged. That level of trust makes a huge difference.”
But beyond the job itself, Matt points to a deeper reason for his loyalty: “During some of the hardest seasons of my family’s life, the company showed real compassion and support. That means more to me than I can put into words.”
Life Outside the Job Site
Outside of work, Matt and his wife stay busy with their 5-year-old son. They’re an active family who enjoys hiking, fishing, and traveling, including multiple international trips each year.
Matt also coaches youth soccer and T-ball at the YMCA and participates in ultramarathons, Ironman races, and triathlons, whether it’s on the job or off the clock, his energy and commitment never waver.
