At Ridgeline Construction Group, our success is built on the dedication and expertise of our team. This month, we’re celebrating a big milestone – 13 years with our Office Manager and Accountant, Maggie Josephson.

Over the years, Maggie has played an important role in shaping our operations, helping the company grow while staying true to the core values that define Ridgeline. We sat down with her to reflect on her journey and the impact she’s made over the past 13 years.

From Music to Construction

Maggie’s career path didn’t begin in construction. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of the marching band and pursued a degree in music education. Later, she transitioned into accounting while working at a family-owned garden center.

“I knew the business well, and when an opportunity in the accounting department opened up, I decided to give it a try,” she said. That decision sparked a passion for accounting that led her to roles in payroll and software administration in the call center industry in Texas.

After moving back to the East Coast, Maggie discovered Ridgeline and quickly found her place. “I really fell in love with residential construction – the nature of it, the product, and the people we work with,” she said. “The philosophy behind Ridgeline and the way they run their business really resonated with me.”

When she joined the team, Ridgeline had just five employees, three of whom were part owners. Since then, the company has grown significantly, and Maggie has been there every step of the way.

Helping Ridgeline Grow

Throughout her tenure, Maggie has been instrumental in helping Ridgeline evolve and adapt. When she first joined, payroll was handled manually, with calculations done on spreadsheets and tax forms written by hand. “I used to drive to the bank to do direct deposits for our employees,” Maggie recalled.

As the company grew, she took the initiative to implement an automated payroll system, making the process more efficient and accurate. “I wanted to show that it didn’t have to cost a lot of money to make our jobs easier and reduce the risk of human error,” she said.

The system Ridgeline adopted is still in place today. Maggie also implemented a paperless invoicing system, allowing invoices to be processed digitally and accessed from anywhere – an essential improvement as the company continued to expand.

A Culture That Feels Like Family

What sets Ridgeline apart, according to Maggie, is not just the high-quality homes they build but the culture they’ve created. “We’re very picky about who we hire because we want people who share our values,” she said. “The company’s culture and the way we work together as a team make this a place I plan to stay for the rest of my career.”

She appreciates the structure within the company, where each project has a dedicated superintendent, project manager, and designer working together. “No one is ever working alone,” said Maggie. “There’s always someone to support you.”

Looking to the Future

Over the years, Maggie has seen Ridgeline adapt and grow to meet new challenges and opportunities, expanding its services to include commercial construction and adding an in-house architect. “Ridgeline isn’t afraid to change and find ways to improve,” she said. “We see a need and make it happen.”

Looking ahead, Maggie is excited about expanding the administrative team to support Ridgeline’s evolving needs, particularly with the growth of the commercial construction division. She looks forward to mentoring new team members and ensuring that the knowledge and values she has cultivated over the years are passed down to the next generation of Ridgeline employees.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters – one who works in the psychology field and another who is a competitive gymnast and honor student. A proud Tennessee Vol, she has a deep love for music and is always planning her next adventure, whether it’s a family cruise, concert, or supporting her daughter’s gymnastics competitions.
