Custom Home Spotlight: The Reserve at Lake Keowee XV

Deep Cove Point Home

At Ridgeline Construction Group, we’re dedicated to turning dreams into reality by creating custom homes that perfectly align with our clients’ visions and lifestyles. With a passion for outdoor activities and socializing, Gail Nelson and Richard Kruzynski entrusted our team to build their dream home at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in 2020.

We sat down with Gail to learn more about their homebuilding journey, their experience with Ridgeline, and what they love most about their new South Carolina home.

From Concept to Reality

After years of living in Chicago and Naples, Florida, Gail and Richard envisioned a retreat at The Reserve at Lake Keowee that would reflect their social lifestyle and love for nature. Although they had owned the lot for 22 years, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that they decided to act on their long-held dream.

As first-time home builders, they were initially intimidated by the prospect. However, Ridgeline’s comprehensive guidance quickly turned their journey into an enjoyable experience.

“We had never built a home before,” said Gail. “The team helped us select our architect and interior designer, and despite being remote, their communication was excellent. They really listened and understood our vision.”

A Seamless Building Experience

From the start of the building process to months after move-in day, Gail and Richard were highly impressed with Ridgeline’s attention to detail and commitment to excellence. “Their team is made up of perfectionists,” said Gail. “They raised the bar and exceeded our high standards.”

The construction process was well-coordinated, with frequent updates and conference calls ensuring everyone was on the same page. The couple appreciated the clear communication and transparency throughout the project, making them feel involved and informed at every stage.

Despite the challenges they anticipated would come with building a custom home, Gail and Richard found the process surprisingly stress-free. “The biggest stress we faced was picking out the color white,” she said. Even post-construction, Ridgeline’s commitment to client satisfaction remained evident.

“Small issues were resolved immediately, from fixing doors to ensuring TV and shades worked properly,” said Gail. “They even followed up months later to make sure everything was perfect.”

Picturesque Features and Views

Intentionally designed to bring the outside in, the mountain contemporary home is bright and inviting, with the morning sun lighting up one half of the home and the sunset illuminating the other.

“The minute you walk into the foyer, it sets the stage,” said Gail. “The eye-catching windows that frame the outdoor views and intricate wooden beams create a majestic yet cozy look.”

Notable features are the kitchen, bar, and dining areas, cleverly differentiated by unique ceiling designs. The bar area has become a favorite gathering spot for friends and family to play cards, board games, and relax.

The outdoor space is another highlight of the home. “We use our screened-in porch almost three-quarters of the year,” said Gail. “It’s a perfect blend of wood and beams with a southern exposure.” They also enjoy the master bathroom, particularly the shower placed strategically across from a window that offers a luxurious view of the outdoors.

The Perfect Gathering Space

The couple’s home is more than just a retreat; it’s a haven for family and friends, designed with socializing and entertainment in mind. The open floor plan and thoughtful design by Ridgeline make large gatherings a pleasure rather than a challenge.

“We host up to 16 people over Christmas, and the house flows beautifully,” said Gail. “It’s extremely practical, and we never feel on top of each other.”

Gail and Richard cherish their new home and the memories it will create. “It’s a cozy yet impressive home, with a dramatic design that flows seamlessly from room to room,” she said. “We love it and feel incredibly fortunate.”
